Welcome to Henny, Penny, and Sky’s 12 Days of Chickens, brought to you by the Hen Herald.  The traditional 12 Days of Christmas actually starts on Christmas Day, but the 12 Days of Chickens starts on the 14th of December.  For 12 days there will be a post of a daily declaration of the top 12 things that make chickens so great.

Number 121: Chickens are as good as Facebook in getting to know your neighbors and meeting people.
Chickens draw a lot of attention, whether it is person or in a conversation they are a hot topic.  Many people will stop to ask about your chickens if they see them out in the yard, and when you are not within sight of people going by your house, you hear a lot of “Hey there’s chickens in that yard!”  Talking to people at work, at parties, at the bus stop, if they find out you have chickens, the questions come flooding in.  Denise has a chicken buddy at work, a co-worker who also has chickens for the first time.  He and she are always talking about their chickens and anyone within earshot becomes part of the conversation.  If you want to meet people – get chickens.
