Number 9:  Chickens as intruder alert systems.
Next to the dog and its’ bark, the chicken and its’ squawk is the next best thing in an alarm system.  The chicken’s excellent eyesight and keen hearing, and don’t forget loud voice, makes them a natural intruder alarm system.  Chickens are not shy about letting the whole neighborhood know that they see something that is unusual and suspicious.
